Kogi teachers’ alleged payment for confirmation is false, – KGSSEB

By Yahaya Idris

The Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board (KGSSEB) has officially denied allegations that it demands money from teachers seeking confirmation. This denial comes after reports circulated suggesting that teachers were required to pay N10,000 for confirmation, which the state government and KGSSEB have strongly refuted.

The Kogi State Government has emphasized its commitment to transparent and fair practices in education, recently approving significant funds for educational initiatives, such as covering WASSCE fees for public school students.

The Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board (KGSSEB) has issued a statement dismissing allegations that it demands money from teachers seeking confirmation. The statement, signed by Dr. Aisha Mohammed Atojoko, the Board Secretary, describes these claims as fabrications by mischief makers.

The board emphasizes that confirmation is a right for teachers who have worked diligently and met the necessary requirements, and no payment is required.

The Kogi State Government has also highlighted its commitment to supporting teachers, citing initiatives like the payment of the N72,000 minimum wage

The Statement said,
“if the State Government could recruit Teachers without asking for a dime during the process, having been engaged and have worked for two years, the issue of confirmation is their right”.

“The present administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo is one resolved in making life meaningful for citizens. This he has demonstrated with the payment of N72,000 minimum wage across board”.

” The Teachers in Kogi State have never had it so good like is presently obtained under the administration of Gov Ododo, one therefore will wonder the intention of the mischief makers and political detractors”.

“The KGSSEB Board, under the leadership of Dr. Habiba Suleiman, as Executive Chairman, since assumption of office, made the plans and policies of Gov. Ododo as envisioned for secondary education, a top priority. It is therefore laughable and illogical for anyone who is scared of the ongoing repositioning by the KGSSEB Board Chairman to want to bring the name of the State Government into disrepute”.

” We therefore use this medium to call on the Teachers and the general public to disregard the malicious information by naysayers. The Confirmation of staff in the civil service, having shown diligence and met the due process, is free and no amount is demanded”.

” We have however called on the security agencies and others concerned to be on the look out for anyone who may be parading himself as a staff of KGSSEB or otherwise with the intention to defraud members of the discerning public for arrest and prosecution”, urged the Teachers and the general public to disregard the malicious publication titled: “Kogi Governor Ododo’s Administration Demands N10,000 Fee From Teachers Seeking Confirmation Letters” and rely on official communications only from KGSSEB and the Kogi State Government for accurate information.
