Nasarawa State University Keffi Hosts 51st Inaugural Lecture

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has held its 51st Inaugural Lecture, titled “Creating Equitable Science Learning Environments: Integrating Nature and Nurture in Nigerian Classrooms.”
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Benneth Coleman Uzoechi, a Professor of Science Education with the faculty of education.
The event began with an academic procession led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman followed by principal officers, Deans and directors as well as students.
In a remarks, Prof. Liman emphasized the university’s commitment to enhancing academic discourse through its inaugural lecture series.
She announced a reform in the lecture schedule, stating that subsequent lectures would be held at 2 p.m. to foster better participation and engagement.
” We shall work towards creating an environment that integrates the “Nature and Nurture ” Concept in Nigerian Classrooms, Prof. Liman stated. ” This will enable us to develop well-rounded students who understands both environmental and socio economic factors affecting them.”
The inaugural lecturer, Prof. Uzoechi, who is also a director of distance learning of the institution, advocated for a Nigerian curriculum in science education, emphasizing the need for an adaptive curriculum that enhances learning and assimilation.
He stressed the importance of balancing the influence of nature and nurture in achieving effective science education outcomes.

The lecture was well-received, with goodwill messages from esteemed professors.
To conclude the event, Prof. Benneth Coleman Uzoechi was honored with an award of recognition, presented by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, in appreciation of his impactful inaugural lecture.
