APC Group Advocates for Zoning Governorship to Nasarawa West

A group of concerned members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa West Senatorial District, led by Pastor Benjamin Chindo Baka, has called for the governorship position to be zoned to Nasarawa West in order to ensure equitable political representation.

The group made this known during a consultative visit to chairmen of local government areas and traditional rulers in Nasarawa West, on Tuesday.

The group Consists of few individuals namely, Pastor Benjamin Chindo Baka, Who is the Chairman of the group, Alh. Basiru A. Sharubutu, Patron, Alh. Abdullahi Abubakar Alayi, Secretary of the group, The Treasurer, Alh. Musa Yakubu, Sheik Modibo, The Asst. Secretary as well as other individuals respectively.

Leading a delegation of the APC Concerned Group from Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Pastor Benjamin Chindo Baka visited the palaces of Abaga Toni Laurence Sylvester Ayi and Esu Karu Pharmacist Luka Panya Baba, as well as the chairmen of Kokona, Keffi, and Karu Local Government Areas, advocated for zoning the governorship to Nasarawa West, citing the need for equitable representation and development in the state.

The group argued that the area has been marginalized for too long and that it’s time for leadership to rotate to Nasarawa West, during their interactions, Baka sought the support of traditional rulers and stakeholders to unite the APC family and produce the next governor.

“The group is a self sponsored group, we did not consult anybody, we did not consult any aspirants vying for the Governorship seat of the state, but it is our passion and love for our state, we deemed it necessary to engage our stakeholders on the need to unanimously agree that Nasarawa west will produce the next Governor in 2027”.

He emphasized that fairness and justice dictate that the zone takes its turn, given that the Southern zone has produced two governors while the Northern zone’s term will terminate in 2027, noted that the Western zone has supported other zones for 20 years and urged them to reciprocate.

“This movement is to also project the good work of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the state. There is major transformation going on across the state, particularly peace that we are enjoying now, we believe the chairmen and traditional rulers played a major role in sustaining peace”.

The traditional rulers, including Abaga Toni Laurence Sylvester Ayi, Pharmacist Luka Panya Baba, and the Emir of Shehu Chindo Yamusa, appreciated the group’s dedication to the party’s ideals and pledged their support. They promised to consult with colleagues across the state to actualize the group’s goal.

The chairmen of Keffi, Dr. Ahmad Damagani, and the deputy chairmen of Kokona and Karu, Mohammed Usman Ada and Ibrahim Bulus, emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to ensure Nasarawa West produces a governor in 2027.

Speakers at the visit expressed optimism that zoning would reduce tensions within the ruling party and boost its chances of winning the 2027 governorship election.

They called on all key political actors, stakeholders, and party faithfuls to support the call for the party ticket to be exclusively reserved for the Western zone, citing the need for political stability and continuity of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule’s administration legacy.
