Toto LG Chairman Mourns Maryam Tsoho, Condoles with Opanda Kingdom

The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, paid an unscheduled condolence visit to the President of the Toto Local Government Traditional Council, the Ohimegye Opanda, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, over the loss of Hajia Maryam Tsoho.

This visit indicate the close relationship and mutual respect between the local government leadership and traditional council in Toto LGA.

In his heartfelt condolences to His Royal Highness, Ohimegye Opanda, and the bereaved family members, the Toto Local Government Council Executive Chairman expressed deep sorrow upon learning of the passing of Haj Maryam Tsoho.

On behalf of the Toto Local Government Council, the Legislative Council, traditional council and the entire people of the local government area, I extend our sincerest condolences to you, the royal family, and the entire community during this difficult time.

According to a statement from the Toto Local Government Council Secretariat, she passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2025, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, six children, and other siblings.

The Chairman also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul, beseeching God Almighty to grant Haj Maryam Tsoho eternal rest and peace.

The Toto LGC chairman used the occasion to eulogize the fatherly role of the monarch, especially highlighting his significant contributions to the peace-building process.

He emphasized that the monarch has been instrumental in bringing about lasting peace in the area.

The chairman also prayed to God Almighty to protect the monarch and grant him more strength and good health to continue his reign.

The Ohimegye of Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, who is also the president of the Toto Local Government Council, expressed his gratitude to the chairman for sharing in his family’s grief over their loss.

He praised the chairman’s leadership style, noting that despite limited resources, the chairman is proactive and committed, even using his personal vehicle and finances for the peace and development of Toto Local Government Area.

The monarch affirmed that only God Almighty can reward such dedication and assured that he and other traditional rulers are solidly behind the chairman
