The Kogi State Chairman of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha, has strongly condemned recent attempts to defame the character of the Kogi State Accountant General, Dr. Mrs. Habibat Tijjani.
The statement signed by the ANAN Chairman and released to newsmen in Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital, praised the State Accountant General, a fellow of ANAN, as a dutiful professional with impeccable character.
The statement further highlighted her analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and credited her with transforming the management of the State’s finances under Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo—making it clear that handling the State’s finances is no longer business as usual, a change that has reportedly made many envious and apprehensive.
“ANAN wishes to acknowledge the State Accountant General’s meticulous attention to detail and commitment to due diligence in her duties. While detractors may be intimidated by her growing reputation, no amount of blackmail will deter her from upholding her principles.”
According to the statement, the online reports, which cannot be verified and are funded by troublemakers, are falsely damaging the hard-earned reputation of the State’s exemplary Accountant General. These reports are described as imaginary claims made by lawbreakers who want to maintain the previous corrupt or problematic system.
ANAN has strongly criticized the spread of false narratives on social media about the arrest and prosecution of Abdulhamid Deflowerboy, who allegedly published an unsubstantiated defamatory post against the Kogi State Government, calling these misleading stories unfortunate.
” For the sake of clarity, the proper legal procedures were followed in reporting the defamation case to the relevant law enforcement agency. Upon invitation, Abdulhamid acknowledged authoring the defamatory publication against the State. Consequently, he was formally charged and remanded by a competent court. Allegations that he was detained without trial by the State Accountant General are unfounded and misleading. Instead of assisting him in meeting his bail conditions, his sponsors abandoned him.”
“Cyberbullying is illegal, and I believe this will teach others a lesson who mistakenly think social media can be used for malicious purposes.”
ANAN concluded by passing a vote of confidence in the Kogi State Accountant General, describing her as a worthy ambassador of the Association.
