Rep Gaza Empowers 400 Teachers in Nasarawa for Maths Mastery

The member representing Keffi, Karu, and Kokona Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Gaza, has sponsored the training of mathematics teachers from public and private secondary schools across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State.
The two-day program, themed “Human Development of Teachers in Government Secondary Schools in Mathematics,” was organized by the National Mathematical Centre Abuja in conjunction with Rock-Plan Engineering LTD and held at Grace Land Hotel, Auta Balefi, in Karu Local Government Area.
At the closing ceremony, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamman, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Mohammed Sani Bala, commended Hon. Gaza for complementing the state government’s efforts by sponsoring the training of over 400 mathematics teachers.
He praised the lawmaker’s humanitarian service to the people, not only in his constituency but across the 13 LGAs of the state, and urged other politicians to follow his example.
Hon. David Maiyaki, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Legislative Matters, represented Hon. Gaza and described the initiative as a first-of-its-kind in Nasarawa State.
He tasked the participants to be courageous in imparting mathematics knowledge to students to overcome massive failures in the subject.
The Representative of the Director-General of the National Mathematical Centre Abuja, Mr. Phillips Nonga, and the MD/CEO of Rock Plan Engineering LTD, Itodo Sunday, appreciated Hon. Gaza for his support and zeal to promote teaching and learning among teachers and students.

They noted that the program aimed to produce qualified individuals for higher studies or positions in society that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to growth and development.
During the training, teachers were equipped with basic teaching skills, lesson planning, and strategies to engage students effectively. Each of the 400 participants received teaching materials and other resources to enhance teaching and learning in their schools.
The Chairman of the Mathematics Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State chapter, Mr. Habbakkuk Silas, commended Hon. Gaza for his contributions to the growth of mathematics education in the state and promised to reciprocate the gesture for the benefit of all.
