Notorious kidnapper Wasiu Oloyede arrested in Ogun State
In Nigeria, war against crimes is yielding positive outcomes as Wasiu Oloyede, the leader of a notorious kidnapping gang, was arrested by police on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Odo Pako area of Ota in Ogun State.
His gang had recently kidnapped a serving soldier in Alagbado, Lagos, on Friday.
During the abduction, they stole the soldier’s military uniform, ID card, ATM cards, and mobile phone, but the soldier managed to escape captivity.
Following the escape, Oloyede attempted to impersonate the soldier by wearing the stolen uniform.
He tried to deceive a local vigilante member and attempted to snatch the vigilante’s dane gun.

The vigilante raised an alarm, which led to Oloyede’s swift arrest by the police.
Oloyede is currently in police custody as investigations continue to uncover and dismantle the broader network of his kidnapping syndicate operating across Ogun and Lagos States.
