Member representing Obi II at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Peter Akwe, has emphasized the importance of voter registration among the youth in Nasarawa State.

He stated this at the closing ceremony of the 29th Annual Youth Convention of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) General Youth Council, held at ERCC Central Keffi on Saturday.

The 29th Annual Youth Convention of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) General Youth Council drew participants from various ERCC churches across the state, featuring Bible studies, prayers, and song ministrations.

Quoting Biblical verses, Dr. Peter Akwe, representing Obi II in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, emphasized the crucial role young people play in shaping their communities and nation through voter registration.

According to Dr. Akwe, voter registration empowers citizens to hold elected officials accountable and influence policy decisions impacting their lives.

“We are here purposely to give them support to make them understand that youth are the backbone of the society. Therefore, our message to the youth is to be proactive and diligence and also participate fully in the on going voter registration exercise, this enable them protect their rights during the elections”.

The guest speaker, Reverend Joshua John Adeka of ERCC Mount Zion, Akwanga, encouraged youths to be focused and work in line with God’s instructions by surrendering their hearts to God.

“The man must know his heart, so that he can be able to control it, and allow God to help him. We gather here so that God can search our hearts. A youth should know that his heart is in the hand of God, that is why you can see the young men stranded because they did not give their heart to God.”

Very Reverend Mathew Embu, Archdeacon of ERCC Keffi Conference, representing ERCC President Dave Denji, and Brother Dube Anthony Danjuma, President of the ERCC General Youth Council, appreciated the youth fellowship’s efforts in propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ and urged them to sustain these efforts.

They noted that the convention’s theme, “The Heart of Man,” was chosen due to the wickedness that fills the human heart, and encouraged the youths to apply the lessons learned to promote peace in their communities.
