In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 elections, the only female member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Nasarawa Central Constituency, Dr. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, has received a strong endorsement from her constituents following a series of interactive engagements with religious leaders across her constituency.
The meetings, which brought together key Islamic and Christian stakeholders, provided a platform for reflection on her legislative performance and opened discussions on her prospects for a second term in office.
The engagement, held in Nasarawa Local Government Area, featured prominent leaders from influential Islamic organisations, including Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI).
The sessions were described as both evaluative and consultative, focusing on Dr. Danyaro’s stewardship over the past two and a half years.
Participants commended her inclusive leadership style and her efforts to maintain consistent dialogue with critical segments of the constituency, noting that her approach marked a departure from past representation in the area.
Dr. Danyaro, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs, used the opportunity to present a detailed breakdown of her achievements in office.
She highlighted legislative contributions, community-based projects, and empowerment programmes targeted at women and youth, while reaffirming her commitment to deliver more impactful initiatives if granted another mandate in 2027.
She expressed gratitude to her constituents for their continued trust and support, pledging to sustain her people-focused representation.
Emphasising unity and peaceful coexistence, the lawmaker called on residents of Nasarawa Central to remain committed to harmony irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.
She also reiterated her support for the APC-led administration in the state, urging constituents to continue backing the government of Governor Abdullahi Sule to ensure the consolidation of democratic gains and development strides.
Leaders of the Islamic community, including Ustaz Umar Usman Baba of JIBWIS, Malam Yahaya Ahmed Danbaba, Chief Imam of Nasarawa Central Mosque, and Malam Zakariyya Abubakar, lauded Dr. Danyaro’s “quality and responsive representation.”
They noted that her deliberate inclusion of religious bodies in governance conversations was unprecedented in the constituency’s legislative history.
The leaders collectively assured her of their full backing in the forthcoming elections, citing her performance and accessibility as key reasons for their endorsement.
In a similar vein, the lawmaker extended her consultations to the Christian community, where she engaged leaders under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
The CAN Chairman, Pastor Ishola of Baptist Church Achievers, passed a vote of confidence in her leadership, praising her commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and grassroots development.
He further assured her of the Christian community’s support as she prepares for the 2027 polls.
The cross-religious endorsement underscores Dr. Danyaro’s growing political strength and highlights a rare consensus among diverse faith groups in the constituency, positioning her as a formidable contender as the next election cycle approaches.
