Kogi Lawmaker Umar Yahaya Awards ₦1m Scholarship to JAMB Top Scorer
A student from Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, Benjamin Ojonedu Jemimah, has emerged the winner of the Hon. Umar Faruk 2026 Educational Scholarship Award after recording the highest score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the constituency this year.
In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, the lawmaker representing Omala State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Yahaya approved a scholarship of ₦1 million to support her education. He also made provisions for her upkeep throughout the duration of her studies.
Faruk further pledged to facilitate Jemimah’s admission process to ensure she secures placement to study her preferred course, Law, as indicated in her JAMB application.

The lawmaker said the initiative underscores his commitment to promoting education and rewarding excellence among students in Omala.
It will be recalled that Hon. Yahaya has consistently used the scholarship scheme in previous years to encourage high-performing students in the area, including supporting their admission processes and providing financial assistance for their upkeep.
