Mixed Reactions Trail purported ‘No Confidence’ Move Against Sen. Karimi in Kogi LGA

…..Describes Comment unrepresentative of the broader electorate

A purported “vote of no confidence” against the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has continued to generate divergent reactions, with supporters and critics offering contrasting views over his performance in Kogi Local Government Area.

While some stakeholders are said to have expressed dissatisfaction with the senator’s representation, a group of his supporters has dismissed the move as unrepresentative of the broader electorate.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday and signed by Mallam Umar Odariko, the group argued that claims of underperformance do not align with what it described as visible projects and interventions executed across the area.

The group cited the reported upgrade of Government Secondary School, Kotonkarfi, the installation of solar-powered boreholes in several wards, and welfare support to residents during festive periods such as Ramadan, Easter, Sallah, and Christmas.

It also referenced bursary awards of ₦100,000 to students in 2024 and 2025, alongside financial support initiatives for women-owned businesses.

However, the development has sparked debate within the local political space, with observers noting that such disagreements reflect ongoing contestations over representation and performance.

Supporters of the senator insist that many residents continue to benefit from his initiatives, while critics maintain that the “vote of no confidence” reflects genuine concerns among sections of the constituency.
