The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dominate the 2027 general elections in Kogi Local Government Area, citing growing support for the party’s leadership at both the state and federal levels.
Gegu made the assertion on Thursday during an enlarged APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Koton Karfe, the administrative headquarters of Kogi LG, where party leaders and supporters gathered to strategize ahead of the next election cycle.
According to him, the policies and developmental strides of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo have continued to positively impact the lives of residents, strengthening the APC’s popularity across Kogi LGA and the state.
He stated that the achievements recorded under the current administrations had significantly weakened the opposition’s chances in the area, urging party faithful to remain united and mobilize support to ensure victory for all APC candidates in future elections.
“The APC will present credible and experienced candidates with proven records of service and integrity. Our responsibility is to remain committed and ensure the party records overwhelming success,” Gegu said.
The Commissioner assured residents that more developmental projects and democratic dividends would reach Kogi LGA in the coming years, describing the progress recorded under the APC as unprecedented.
He added that the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu, alongside Governor Ododo’s policies, would continue to deliver sustainable growth and opportunities for the people.
The meeting also witnessed the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for re-election in 2027.
Other endorsed candidates included Hon. Sam Aro for Senate, Hon. Danladi Aguye for the House of Representatives, as well as Dauda Aliyu Capacity and Umar Yakubu Adabo for the Kogi LGA State Constituencies in the House of Assembly.
In his welcome remarks, APC leader, Ado Shaibu, described the stakeholders’ gathering as timely, noting that it would further strengthen party unity and consolidate APC’s gains in Kogi LGA ahead of the polls.
He also congratulated the newly inaugurated local government and ward executives, urging them to work diligently for the success of the party.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, expressed confidence in the consensus candidates endorsed by the APC leadership in the local government.
He encouraged party members to participate actively in the forthcoming House of Representatives direct primaries, stressing the need for unity and commitment among APC supporters.
Osuku commended party leaders for maintaining a common front as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
Stakeholders and representatives from the eleven wards in Kogi LGA also pledged loyalty to the APC and expressed support for the endorsed candidates, promising to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts to secure victory for the party.
