Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule’s Death: Omera Opaluwa Lied Against Me for Cheap Political Gain — Comfort Onoja

Says: “I’m Still Mourning My Mother and Twin Brother

By Yahaya Idris, Lokoja

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Special Adviser on Immunization to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Comfort Onoja, has rejected allegations by Omera Opaluwa that she mocked or celebrated the death of Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule, describing the claim as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Saturday in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital, the Igala-born politician, popularly known as Ododo Mama, said the report had left her heartbroken, especially as it surfaced at a time she is still grieving the recent loss of her mother and her twin brother, Hon. Simon Onoja, who served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State

Hon. Onoja called on the immediate family of the late Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule, the Igala nation, her supporters and people of Kogi State to disregard the viral video being circulated on social media by Omera Opaluwa, alleging that it was deliberately designed to tarnish her image and discredit her before the Igala Kingdom.

According to her, the attempt to portray her as someone who would mock the dead was not only unfair but a calculated move to damage her reputation, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.

She expressed disappointment that Omera Opaluwa failed to contact her for clarification before circulating what she described as a one-sided narrative.

“I strongly reject and condemn the allegations in their entirety. I was not brought up that way. I have deep respect for both the living and the dead,” she said.

The Governor’s Special Adviser, a native of Olamaboro local government area noted that having recently suffered painful personal losses, she fully understands the emotional trauma families endure when they lose loved ones.

She emphasized that death remains inevitable and that every living soul will one day taste it, regardless of status, background, or political affiliation.

In her words:

“I, Comfort Onoja, also known as Ododo Mama, wish to address the false narrative being peddled by Mr. Omera Opaluwa that I was laughing, jubilating, and mocking the sad passing of my sister, Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule.”

“Hajiya Inikpi was my political friend and associate. While we may have had political differences at times, that can never amount to me mocking her death. Death is inevitable, and everyone must taste it. Her time came, and I pray Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings.”

“Recently, I lost my mother, and within the same period, I also lost my twin brother, Hon. Simon Onoja, who served as SSA to the Governor on Information and Political Strategies.”

“That alone should tell everyone that I understand the pain of loss. I therefore urge the public to disregard Omera Opaluwa’s claims on Facebook.”

“I have great respect for the dead, including my political friend, Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule.”

“I am still mourning my mother and my twin brother before this unfortunate controversy.”

She added that she would address her supporters more extensively on the issue at the appropriate time.

Hon. Onoja prayed for the peaceful repose of Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule’s soul.

“May Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest and forgive her shortcomings,” she said.
