The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence in the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, for his unwavering loyalty, maturity and commitment to the party despite the outcome of the recently concluded APC primary election.

The endorsement came on Monday when the APC State Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello, Ph.D, led members of the State Working Committee (SWC) on a thank-you and solidarity visit to the Speaker at his office in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

According to the APC Chairman, the Speaker’s conduct after the primaries has strengthened unity within the party and serves as a model worthy of emulation by other members.

“We came as a party to appreciate him for being a man of God, a man of faith and someone who believes in destiny.
“Despite the outcome of the APC primaries, the Speaker openly identified with the party, the Governor and all the winners. This is something that deserves appreciation,” Dr. Bello stated.

The APC Chairman called on aspirants who were unsuccessful during the party primaries to emulate Speaker Jatau by accepting the results in the interest of peace, unity and the continued progress of the party.

He stressed that politics should not divide party members, noting that leadership and political opportunities come from God.

Dr. Bello described the Speaker as a shining example of sportsmanship and loyalty, adding that today’s losers could emerge victorious in future political contests.

“Whether you win or lose, tomorrow is another day. There are other opportunities at both the state and federal levels.

“We are appealing to everyone who lost during the APC primaries to emulate the Speaker by accepting the outcome in good faith,” he said.

He further cautioned politicians against overheating the political atmosphere, emphasizing that true leadership is divinely ordained.

Responding, Speaker Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau thanked the APC leadership for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and solidarity within the ruling party.

He disclosed that the visit was both to appreciate him and to console him over the outcome of the APC primaries, noting that he had accepted the result as the will of God.

“Today, I received the State APC Chairman and other officials. They came to appreciate me and also to console me over what happened during the APC primaries.

“I have accepted everything as the will of God because leadership comes from Him. I have moved on, and we should all move forward for the victory of our party,” the Speaker said.

Dr. Jatau reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support for all APC candidates and ensuring the party records overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections.

He pledged to continue working with the party leadership to strengthen the APC across Nasarawa State and maintain the unity that has remained the party’s greatest strength.

Some APC leaders believe the Speaker’s acceptance of the primary outcome and continued loyalty to the APC could encourage reconciliation among aggrieved members as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
