The Council noted that the leadership position has already been affirmed by a competent court, making any contrary claim misleading and legally questionable.

According to the statement, the Council remains committed to respecting the ongoing judicial process while supporting Governor Abdullahi A. Sule’s reconciliation efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace within the youth body.The NYCN, however, expressed disappointment over what it described as actions capable of frustrating the Governor’s peace initiative.

It further alleged that the continued recognition of unauthorized individuals could create unnecessary tension among youths and weaken confidence in established institutions.

The Council appealed to government agencies, youth organizations, traditional rulers, religious leaders and civil society groups to verify information before associating with any programme presented in the name of the NYCN.

It emphasized that the organization remains united and committed to transparency, constitutional order and youth inclusion. The Council also reiterated its long-standing policy of promoting unity regardless of tribe, religion or political affiliation.

It pledged to resist every attempt to introduce ethnic, religious or sectional divisions into the affairs of the Council.

Below is the press release;

NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN), NASARAWA STATE CHAPTER ISSUES URGENT DISCLAIMER, REAFFIRMS LEGITIMATE LEADERSHIP AMIDST UNAUTHORIZED YOUTH SUMMIT.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, today issued a strong disclaimer against a proposed Youth Summit organized by one Solomon Damina, who falsely claims to be the caretaker chairman of the Council in the state. The NYCN unequivocally states that Mr. Damina and his activities are not recognized by the legitimate leadership of the Council.

The NYCN calls upon the Government and all stakeholders in Nasarawa State to address the confusion and potential disunity being sown among the state’s youth by the actions of the Honourable Commissioner of Youth, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu. The Council expresses grave concern over the Commissioner’s apparent disregard for due process and established legal pronouncements.

Comrade Jaafar Muhammad Loko remains the duly elected Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter. This fact has been affirmed by an order from a competent Court of jurisdiction, an order which the Commissioner of Youth has regrettably chosen to ignore. The current restraint shown by the Jaafar-led executive is a direct consequence of an ongoing court case and, crucially, the intervention of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, who has initiated efforts towards peace and reconciliation within the youth leadership. The Council laments that the Commissioner’s actions have undermined the Governor’s commendable reconciliation initiative, seemingly due to personal sentiments.

We have raised alarm severally through appropriate quota but the authority seems to be adamant. We hope that the right thing will be done this time.

Therefore, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter, strongly advises the general public, especially the youth of Nasarawa State, to disregard the purported Youth Summit being organized under the guise of the Youth Council. The Council urges the organizers of this event to conduct their activities under their appropriate organizational banners, rather than misrepresenting the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

The legitimate leadership of the NYCN in Nasarawa State is steadfast in its commitment to challenging this anomaly and ensuring that justice and proper procedures are upheld. The Council will not tolerate any individual exploiting government instruments for personal gain against the will of the majority, nor will it permit the dissemination of falsehoods to mislead His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule and the general public.

The NYCN Nasarawa State Chapter reaffirms its long-standing principle of operating without tribal or religious bias, functioning as an indivisible entity dedicated to uniting and championing the cause of all youth in the state. The Council pledges to vehemently resist any attempts to introduce divisive elements into its operations.

The Council is coming up with it action plan for 2027 electioneering activities to bring all youth together ensure peaceful electioneering campaigns and polls.

Signed.
