Religious Leaders Endorse Oborevwori for Second Term, Praise Developmental Achievements in Delta

Religious leaders under the auspices of the Forum of Ministers and Church Workers have endorsed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office, commending his administration’s developmental strides and commitment to good governance across the state.

The endorsement was made during a prayer and endorsement programme held in Asaba, where ministers of the gospel and church workers gathered to offer prayers for Governor Oborevwori, Delta State and Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, the National President of the Forum, Prophet Peter Daniel, said the decision to back Governor Oborevwori for another term was based on what he described as the administration’s impressive performance in infrastructure, governance and people-centred programmes over the past three years.
According to him, the governor’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy has earned him widespread support among Deltans, making the endorsement a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership.
Prophet Daniel explained that the Forum was established to promote unity among leaders through prayers and advocacy aimed at sustaining peace, national cohesion and development.
He also expressed concern over the nation’s security challenges, urging the Federal Government and other critical stakeholders to complement military operations with dialogue, reconciliation and inclusive engagement.
According to him, relying solely on the use of force has not produced the desired results, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective commitment, justice and national unity.
The cleric assured that the Forum would continue to pray for peace, security and the progress of Nigeria.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the State Coordinator of Religious Matters, Rev. Cyril Okonye, thanked the religious leaders for their endorsement and unwavering prayers for the administration.
He reaffirmed Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to the implementation of the MORE Agenda, promising to intensify efforts towards accelerating infrastructure, economic growth and improved welfare for all Deltans.
Okonye also appealed to religious leaders to sustain their prayers for leaders at all levels of government, noting that unity, peace and divine guidance remain indispensable for effective governance and national development.
Also speaking, members of the Delta State Executive Council, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu and Mr. Smart Ufoh, commended the governor’s achievements across key sectors, expressing confidence that a second term would consolidate ongoing projects and usher in a new phase of accelerated development in Delta State.
The programme featured special prayers for Governor Oborevwori, Delta State and Nigeria, alongside a sermon titled “The Power of Strong Covenant,” delivered by Prophet Peter Daniel.
