The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah, has firmly dismissed reports linking him to alleged secret negotiations over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Benue State, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
Akutah, through a statement issued on Friday by his Principal Private Adviser, Comrade Atir Solomon Faeren, said the report published by an anonymous online platform was entirely fabricated and lacked any form of verificatAccordingly ording to the statement, the publication alleged that the Nigerian Shippers’ Council boss was secretly involved in discussions concerning the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, Akutah’s camp maintained that no such discussions ever took place, insisting that the report was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to a false, malicious and unverified publication by an anonymous online platform alleging that Dr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah is involved in secret talks concerning the Benue State PDP governorship,” the statement read.
The statement further accused the publishers of abandoning the basic principles of journalism by failing to seek clarification from Akutah or his office before making the allegations public.
“We categorically reject the report as a baseless fabrication published without any attempt to verify the claims with Dr. Akutah or his office,” it addehis politically ng his political allegiance, Akutah declared that he remains a loyal and committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing any speculation suggesting he was considering a move to the opposition PDP
“We therefore urge the public to disregard the publication entirely, as Dr. Akutah remains a loyal and committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Faeren stated.
The statement also urged media organisations and political actors to embrace responsible journalism by verifying information before publication, especially as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It warned that the spread of misinformation and politically motivated propaganda could undermine public confidence and distort the democratic process.
“Truth, professionalism and responsible journalism will always prevail over misinformation and political propaganda,” the statement concluded.
The rebuttal comes amid increasing political realignments and speculation ahead of the 2027 election cycle, with several public office holders and political figures becoming subjects of rumours over their future political ambitions.
