2027 governorship hopeful says unexpected donations followed social media exchange over ₦150 million billboard permit controversy

The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State election, Doris Ogala, has stirred reactions on social media after appealing to supporters to send her ₦1,000 so she could refund a donor who demanded his money back following an online misunderstanding
Ogala disclosed that she had not officially launched her campaign fundraising but unexpectedly began receiving donations after engaging with supporters of the incumbent administration over the controversial ₦150 million Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSAA) billboard permit fee.
According to her, the exchange started when a supporter of the incumbent mocked her for allegedly lacking the funds to pay the billboard permit.
“Someone donated ₦1,000 to my campaign, even though I haven’t officially started fundraising yet, which I definitely plan to do soon,” she wrote.
She explained that she responded to the critic by suggesting that if she truly lacked the money, the troll should help her raise it.
“I fired back and told the troll that since I didn’t have the money, he should help me raise it instead. I even suggested he ask his boss, the incumbent Governor of Abia State, AlexOtti, to help a sister out. Then, I pasted my account number in the comments section.”
Ogala revealed that the same individual unexpectedly transferred ₦2,000, prompting her to thank him while praying ththat6od would reward him according to the intentions behind the donation.
“I appreciated it but prayed for him with a twist: I asked God to repay him according to the exact intentions he had in his heart when he made the donation.”She
She said another individual later donated ₦1,000, but when she similarly suggested the gesture might have been made sarcastically, the donor became offended and insisted the contribution had been genuine.
According to the actress-turned-politician, the misunderstanding escalated after the donor demanded an immediate refund.
“The real issue now is that I have already spent the ₦1,000, and this person has been dragging me online since morning demanding a refund.”
Appealing to supporters, Ogala requested another ₦1,000 to settle the matter and end the online controversy
“Please, my people, I need your help. Can someone please send me ₦1,000 so I can pay this person back and end the drama? The dragging is just too much to handle.”
She subsequently shared the details of her campaign account for those willing to support her movement.
