The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, has expressed confidence that Uyo Local Government Area will deliver an increased number of votes for Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Uwah, who is also the Political Leader of Uyo, made the declaration on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, when he hosted political leaders, stakeholders and other party faithful from the local government at his residence.
The SSG conveyed Governor Eno’s greetings to the people and commended them for their continued support for the administration.
He said Uyo remained strategically important to the Akwa Ibom State Government, stressing that the people had sufficient reasons to support the governor because of ongoing infrastructure development and opportunities being created across the state.
“Things are better with Uyo now than in the past. The Governor deserves the support of Uyo people,” Uwah said.
Uwah also commended the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, for his performance and disclosed plans to separately engage youths and women as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
On the 2027 elections, the SSG said Uyo would vote massively for Governor Eno, President Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He expressed confidence in the electoral prospects of Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Mark Essiet and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, saying he expected them to emerge victorious.
Uwah, however, cautioned party members against premature political activities, particularly campaigns for the Uyo Local Government chairmanship, warning that such activities could distract the incumbent administration.
Earlier, the Chairman of Uyo LGA and State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, commended Uwah for convening the stakeholders’ meeting.
Udo said sustained collaboration among party leaders and stakeholders was essential for political growth and grassroots mobilisation.
He also disclosed that more than 20,000 new voters were captured during the recent voter registration exercise in the local government.
Also speaking, former Chairman of the Local Government and Civil Service Commission, Hon. Monday Eyo, commended Governor Eno over infrastructure projects and appointments across the state.
Eyo cited the Uyo Village Road as one of the projects reflecting the administration’s development efforts and urged party members to remain committed ahead of the 2027 elections.

Anietie Eka; Delivery Adviser on Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh; Dean of Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Uduak Eyo Ansa; SSA on Entrepreneurial Development, Mr. Ime Uwah; councillors, supervisors and other political stakeholders.
