The Chairman of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki, has commended the Bornu community and members of the Tricycle and Motorcycle Transport Association for their support for the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

Madaki gave the commendation on Tuesday when the Bornu community, led by the Chairman of the Tricycle and Motorcycle Transport Association, Alhaji Abba Ali Dan Bornu, visited the council secretariat.

The council chairman attributed the prevailing peace and unity in Karu to the cordial relationship between the local government administration and the various communities residing in the area.

He specifically praised Dan Bornu for mobilising Bornu indigenes resident in Karu, as well as motorcycle and tricycle operators, to support Senator Wadada and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Madaki noted that Dan Bornu resisted pressure to defect to opposition parties after the APC primaries and instead remained committed to the party alongside his supporters.

He urged the community leader to sustain the spirit of loyalty and unity, while calling on youths in the area to shun violence, lawlessness and actions capable of threatening the peace of the local government.

According to him, Karu is a cosmopolitan local government because of its proximity to Abuja and the presence of people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

He therefore urged residents to respect one another irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

Bornu Community Backs Wadada

Speaking during the event, Alhaji Abba Ali Dan Bornu said he mobilised his members and Bornu indigenes resident in Karu to formally endorse Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada for governor in 2027 and support other APC candidates across various levels.

Dan Bornu explained that although he supported different governorship aspirants before the party’s primaries, the emergence of Wadada as the preferred candidate had made it necessary for all supporters to rally behind him.

He also decorated Chairman Abubakar Aliyu Madaki and other dignitaries with traditional Kanuri attire as a symbol of unity, solidarity and mutual respect.

The Bornu community leader subsequently visited the palaces of the Esu Karu and the Wakilin Kanurai, where he pledged the community’s continued support for peace, unity and development in Karu.

Responding, the Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panya Baba, appreciated the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the important role played by members of the Tricycle and Motorcycle Transport Association in facilitating transportation and easing the movement of residents.

The traditional ruler, however, urged transport operators to shun drug abuse and maintain responsible conduct while carrying out their businesses.

The event also featured the presentation of a brand-new Sharon bus to Abba Ali Dan Bornu, courtesy of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

Awards were equally presented to the Chairman of Karu LGA and the Esu Karu in recognition of their contributions to peace, unity and community development.
