By Yahaya Idris, Lokoja

The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications and National Publicity Secretary of the Ethiope Federal Constituency APC Forum, Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., has congratulated the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, and Mr. Felix Ejovwoke Erhimedafe on their emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for Ethiope East and Abraka State Constituencies respectively.

Oghenesivbe described their emergence from the party’s primary elections as well deserved, saying the APC had demonstrated sound political judgment by placing what he described as “square pegs in square holes.”

According to him, the emergence of Akpowowo and Erhimedafe reflects the confidence reposed in their leadership abilities, grassroots acceptance, political experience and commitment to the development of Ethiope East Local Government Area and Delta State.

He urged APC leaders, members and supporters across the two constituencies to close ranks and work together toward securing victory for the party at the polls.

Oghenesivbe said the emergence of the two candidates presents the APC with an opportunity to strengthen effective legislative representation and deepen the connection between the people of Ethiope East and the development programmes of the Federal and Delta State Governments.

Akpowowo Understands Governance, Legislative Duties

The Delta State Bureau Chief described Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo as a tested political leader whose years of experience in governance, legislation and party administration have adequately prepared him for the responsibility of representing the eight wards that now constitute the Ethiope East State Constituency.

He noted that Akpowowo’s position as Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly has given him valuable exposure to legislative processes and government operations.

Oghenesivbe said Akpowowo had demonstrated legislative capacity, leadership maturity and an understanding of the institutional processes required to effectively represent his constituents.

He expressed confidence that the Deputy Speaker would deploy his experience toward attracting meaningful development and strengthening constituency engagement.

Erhimedafe Brings Grassroots Experience

Oghenesivbe also congratulated Felix Ejovwoke Erhimedafe, describing him as an experienced grassroots politician and party administrator whose emergence as the APC candidate for Abraka State Constituency represents recognition of his longstanding service to the party and the people.

He highlighted Erhimedafe’s experience as Acting Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board and State Assistant Organising Secretary of the APC, as well as his more than two decades of involvement in political mobilisation and party structure management in Ethiope East.

According to Oghenesivbe, the experience has equipped Erhimedafe with the organisational skills, political understanding and grassroots networks needed for effective legislative representation.

Candidates Understand Tinubu, Oborevwori Policies

The APC chieftain said both candidates understand the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.

He maintained that their understanding of the two administrations’ development programmes would position them to effectively connect their constituencies with government policies, projects and opportunities.

Oghenesivbe said the candidates bring complementary strengths to the electoral contest, including political experience, accessibility, grassroots relationships and institutional knowledge.

He added that their campaigns should be focused on issues, development, inclusive representation and the collective interests of the people.

New Political Configuration Requires Effective Representation

Oghenesivbe further pointed to the new political configuration in Ethiope East following the creation of Abraka State Constituency from Wards 1, 2 and 3.

He said the development makes it necessary for both constituencies to elect representatives who understand their peculiar needs and can effectively interface with government at the state and federal levels.

He noted that the remaining eight wards, comprising Agbon 1 and Agbon 2 of Agbon Kingdom, equally require experienced legislative representation capable of articulating and advancing the aspirations of their people.

He therefore urged voters across Ethiope East and Abraka State Constituencies to support the APC candidates and embrace what he described as a new phase of purposeful representation, inclusive leadership and sustainable development.
