Six supporters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have reportedly died in a road accident in Nasarawa State, throwing the state into mourning.
The victims, said to be supporters of former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, were involved in the fatal crash on Monday.
News of the accident sparked reactions across the state, with Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, expressing grief over the deaths.
Wadada, in a condolence message, described the incident as tragic and extended his sympathies to the former IGP, the families of the deceased, their friends and associates, as well as the entire SDP family.
The senator also prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and asked God to grant their families the strength to cope with the loss.
The condolence gesture cuts across the political divide, coming at a time when political parties in the state are preparing for the 2027 elections.
Residents who reacted to the senator’s message described the gesture as an expression of sympathy that transcended partisan differences.
