The member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, has facilitated six fresh permanent and pensionable appointments for constituents, reaffirming his commitment to tackling youth unemployment and poverty.
Isimbabi, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, presented appointment letters to the beneficiaries at his office in Lafia on Monday.
The latest appointments reportedly bring the total number of permanent and pensionable employment opportunities facilitated by the lawmaker for constituents to more than 40 within the last three years, with youths and women among the beneficiaries.
Speaking during the presentation, Isimbabi said creating employment opportunities for young people remained one of his major priorities, stressing that gainful employment was essential to improving living standards and promoting socioeconomic development in the constituency.
“First, let me congratulate you on your appointments. What I am doing is taking unemployed youths off the streets to improve their standard of living,” he said.
The lawmaker added that his commitment to youth empowerment was ongoing and would be sustained in the interest of the constituency and Nasarawa State.
“You are aware that I have done it yesterday, I am doing it today and, by God’s grace, I will do more by taking the youths off the streets for the overall development of our constituency and the state at large,” he stated.
Isimbabi Charges Beneficiaries on Professionalism
While congratulating the newly appointed workers, Isimbabi urged them to demonstrate dedication, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their official responsibilities.

He advised them to protect their personal reputations, family names and the image of Toto/Gadabuke Constituency by conducting themselves responsibly in their respective workplaces.
“I also want to call on you to take your work seriously and avoid anything that will tarnish your names, your family names and our constituency,” he said.
The lawmaker further encouraged the beneficiaries to pursue higher educational qualifications to improve their knowledge, skills and productivity.
“If you have NCE, go for your degree programme, and if you have a degree, go for your master’s degree, among others,” he advised.
Isimbabi said his broader vision was to ensure that more graduates from the constituency secured meaningful employment while other young people acquired practical skills to become economically independent.
He also reiterated his commitment to providing what he described as sound and quality representation to the people of Toto/Gadabuke.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Umar Yunusa Shaba expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for facilitating their appointments, describing the development as an opportunity to fulfil their aspirations.
“Today, we are happy. We thank God and we thank you for making our dreams become reality,” Shaba said.
He assured the lawmaker that the beneficiaries would approach their duties with dedication and remain worthy ambassadors of the constituency and Nasarawa State.
“By God’s grace, we are going to be dedicated to our duties, and we are going to be good ambassadors of our constituency and the state at large,” he added.
Shaba also pledged their continued support for the lawmaker.
Some beneficiaries reportedly became emotional while recounting their prolonged experiences in the labour market, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to secure permanent employment.
Over 40 Appointments in Three Years
The latest appointments cut across government ministries, including Youth and Sports, Finance and Environment, according to information provided about the exercise.
The reported record of more than 40 permanent and pensionable appointments in three years places employment facilitation among the key interventions associated with Isimbabi’s representation of Toto/Gadabuke Constituency.
As youth unemployment and the search for economic opportunities remain major concerns for many families, the beneficiaries’ appointments are expected to provide them with a more stable source of livelihood.
The lawmaker has pledged to sustain efforts aimed at expanding employment opportunities, promoting skills acquisition and improving the welfare of his constituents.
