Dr Betta Edu has declared that Nigeria is approaching a period of greater prosperity following the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to give the administration another mandate in the 2027 presidential election.

Edu made the remarks in Kaduna on Thursday while leading the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate on a courtesy visit to Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.

The visit formed part of preparations for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna, where Balarabe serves as chairperson of the Local Organising Committee.

“We have gone through the reform phase already. Now it is time for prosperity. We are already at the gate of prosperity,” Edu said.

She argued that the country had endured a difficult period of economic adjustment and expressed confidence that a second Tinubu administration would deliver greater prosperity.

Edu also revealed that the Directorate was pursuing a target of close to 40 million votes for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

She said the mobilisation plan would prioritise women at the grassroots, with campaign representatives expected to engage voters in markets, homes and local communities.

According to her, large rallies alone would not be sufficient to achieve the Directorate’s target without consistent communication and personal engagement with citizens.

Edu urged APC women leaders in Kaduna and neighbouring North-Western states to conduct peaceful door-to-door campaigns, listen to the concerns of voters and explain the administration’s policies.

She warned against intimidation or coercion, emphasising that political support should be won through dialogue and persuasion.

The delegation included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Hon. Scholastica Ben-Sor, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi and Hon. Ada Ode, among other members of the Directorate.

Edu commended Governor Uba Sani for reported interventions in road infrastructure, public transportation and primary healthcare. She also praised Balarabe for breaking political barriers as the first woman elected deputy governor of Kaduna State.

Responding, Balarabe said the Kaduna State Government was committed to ensuring that the campaign flag-off was well organised.

She disclosed that planning and coordination meetings had been held and urged the Directorate to cooperate with the LOC and other stakeholders.

The deputy governor also called for sustained engagement with women beyond the campaign launch, expressing confidence that they could contribute significantly to political participation in 2027.

“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side, women are reliable,” she said.

Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu, who addressed journalists in Hausa, also expressed confidence in the prospects of Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, pointing to the importance of grassroots mobilisation.

The Kaduna engagement is part of the Directorate’s broader programme of meetings with political leaders and women stakeholders, alongside market outreach and hospital visits.

As the 2027 election approaches, the APC women’s mobilisation team says it will focus on taking the Renewed Hope Agenda to communities and encouraging women to participate actively in the electoral process.
