The media team of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has called on the Egbira and Bassa communities in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to reject ethnic suspicion and maintain peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The team said the political ambition of Senator Wadada should not be interpreted as a threat to the interests, representation or development aspirations of any ethnic community in the state.

In a press statement, the media team cautioned against narratives suggesting that a Wadada-led administration would favour one community at the expense of another, insisting that such claims should not be accepted as facts without credible evidence.

According to the team, political relationships across ethnic lines do not automatically translate into preferential treatment, stressing that the principles of fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity should remain the foundation of governance.

“The issue is not whether one community will overshadow another, but whether all communities will be treated fairly and given the opportunity to contribute to the development of Nasarawa State,” the statement said.

The team urged political leaders, community stakeholders and supporters of different political interests to avoid statements capable of deepening ethnic divisions, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 election.

It identified security, infrastructure, education and economic opportunities as common priorities that should unite the people, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds or political affiliations.

The media team further appealed to the Egbira and Bassa communities in Toto to preserve their longstanding relationships and resist attempts to turn political competition into ethnic rivalry.

It maintained that mutual respect, constructive engagement and peaceful coexistence would better serve the collective interests of both communities than suspicion and divisive political narratives.

The statement reaffirmed the importance of an inclusive political environment in which every community can participate in the democratic process and pursue its development aspirations without fear of exclusion.
