Kogi state Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Hon. Chief (Engineer) Muhammed Bashir Abubakar Gegu has appealed to all the Egbiras in Nigeria and in diaspora to emulate the culture of the Ohiku by accommodating all their visitors.
Engineer Bashir who attended the 2nd annual Convention of the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union in Koton large on Saturday, said most Egbira settlements like other areas of the country developed rapidly due to accepting and accommodating good people that contributed to the development of their areas.
He noted that the Egbira land is loved by people especially those interested in agriculture and other natural resources, giving example of mining and fishing in many parts of Egbira land.
The Commissioner equally commended the leadership of the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union over the Mission and Vision of the history People of Kwararafa coming together to repeat the history of the strength and unity of Egbira people in the ancient Kingdom.
Engineer Bashir Gegu particularly admonished the youths to embrace the unification of the Egbiras by the elders which he said will tremendously benefit the present and future generation.
He advised the youths to embark on economic, political and social interactions with themselves as Egbira no matter their locations.
He therefore congratulated His Royal Majesty, the Ohimege Igu and the entire people of Kogi local government for the peaceful and successful hosting of the Convention of Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union.
