Gwagwalada Chairman Meets NUT Officials, Vows To Revamp Education Sector

The chairman Gwagwalada area council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, received in audience the council’s branch officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in his office, in which he vowed to revamp the education sector of the council.

Giri, said his second coming as the chairman of the council was to ensure he made a difference through ensuring that primary and secondary education get adequate priority it deserves in all ramifications.

He added that his administration is determined to make a difference on how the council can be able to provide the best possible education for its sons and daughters across the council.

The chairman, therefore, assured the NUT branch union of cordial working relationships, saying salaries arrears, annual increment and other entitlement of the teachers will be given adequate priority by his administration.

“And besides, it is a demonstration of my administration that every sons and daughters of this council from all walks of life have access to conducive and qualitative education,” he said.

The chairman added “education is not an either/or proposition. It’s a both/and proposition”. It takes both the determination of government and the active participation of citizens to make for a functional educational system.

Ealier, the Gwagwalada area council branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Comrade Abubakar Sadiq, informed the chairman that he decided to lead officials of the branch to come and congratulate him over his victory and inauguration as the chairman of the council.

He pledged that the union will work with the council chairman in order to move the education sector to a greater heights.
