A conglomerate of 7 Islamic schools in Gegu Beki held a joint graduation ceremony on Sunday as a total of 88 graduands drawn from the schools were presented with certificates.
The graduation ceremony was witnessed by top government officials including the State Commissioner of Finance Hon. Asiwaju Idris Asiru, as well as traditional rulers and local government officials.
The Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, who represented the Governor at the occasion, urged the people of Gegu not to relent in loyalty and supporting the government as more dividends of democracy are on the way.
Hon Bashir Gegu, who congratulated the graduands for their successful completion of the study of the Holy Quran, urged them to also be prepared to impact the knowledge they have acquired on others in order to expand the frontiers of Islam.
The Commissioner also called on parents to ensure that their children both males and females attend both Islamic and conventional schools.
He equally advised the graduands to increase their quest for education by reading harder and always moving forward in education.
The occasion which was in two folds also launched an appeal towards the construction of the Gegu central mosque.
The representative of the Governor who made a personal donation of N2 million for the construction of Gegu Beki central mosque, also gave N 440,000 for the 88 graduands, while 200,000 was given to the Islamic schools and the sum of 50,000 for his Islamic school Alumni.
The Commissioner equally delivered the message of the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, who promised to complete the construction of the mosque soon as his own contribution.
The Commissioner of Finance who was at the occasion as a guest of honour thanked the Muslim Community of Gegu for adherence to the Islamic faith, praying to God to reward them abundantly.
Asiwaju who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Hon. Idris Musa (Oando) disclosed that the State Executive Council has agreed to make their own contribution soon.
In his remarks, the Ohinoyi of Gegu Beki Kingdom, HRM. Alhaji Alhassan Abba Muhammed thanked all the people that came from far and near to attend the occasion wishing them God’s guidance back to their destinations.
