2024: Okpebholo Should channel his anger at APC Over fail N30b Benin Water-Storm

The little educated All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the September 21st governorship election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, with his incomprehensible grammar and terrible syntaxes was a spectacle of his despicable self when he chose to step into the erosion flood portion of the Boundary Road, GRA Benin City, yesterday.
On February 25, 2021 Governor Godwin Obaseki exposed APC in the N30b Benin City Water-storm Project failure and the erosion menace that has been threatening to wash away the Metropolitan City of Benin.
“The person who supervised this project today calls himself a minister and is supervising bigger projects for the Federal Government. This is just unacceptable.
“What we are doing now is different from what was done in the last administration. There is almost a two-meter difference. So, there is no way that you can drain water from a low ground to a high plane.
“The stormwater project was a fraud. It was a contract to defraud Edo people. From what I see in this catchment area, the project was never designed to take water away from the area. The area was never drained.” Obaseki equipped with a probe the project and recover all the money stolen through it.
The former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, was the Commissioner for Environment and Public Utilities and supervised the phase 1 of the project during the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.
Obviously, Senator Monday Okpehbolo’s uninformed, ill-tempered and preposterous criticisms of Governor Obaseki administration’s handling of the N30bn Benin stormwater project failure did not signpost him as a man with the minimum requirement of a governorship candidate who aspires to know and re-know what ills the state so as to fixing the litany crises facing a modern state like Edo.
Firstly, Senator Okpebholo’s comments demonstrate a clear ignorance of the principles of governance and continuity. Obaseki’s administration has always prioritised the welfare and well-being of Edo State people, and he can not be deterred by unfounded criticisms from those who seek to undermine the progress of Edo people.
Secondly, Edo people have taken note of Senator Okpebholo’s attempt to politicize the issue of the stormwater project. However, the people are not swayed by his divisive rhetoric. Instead, Governor Obaseki has continue to work towards finding solutions to the challenges facing our state, including the fixing of the bad spot on the stormwater project.
Lastly, it is enliven to remind the good people of Edo State that Obaseki’s administration has a proven track record of delivering on his promises, and Dr Asue Ighodalo will certainly continue from there at his departure, as from November this year. In contrast, Senator Okpebholo’s APC have only made empty promises and have no credible plan to address the pressing governance issues facing dear our state.
We urge the people of Edo State to reject the politics of division and negativity, and to instead support Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie’s to build a better future for all.
