Gov Ododo’s free medical outreach, Kogi LG residents commends Commissioner Gegu

The good people of Kogi Local Government Area in Kogi State are expressing their gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of their people and for initiating a free medical outreach for their wellness.

The people said the gesture offered them by Kogi State Government with over 10,000 unprivileged and indigent rural dwellers benefit from exercise.

According to Dr Nuhu Idris, the Chief Medical Director, CMD, of Ultra Modern General Hospital Gegu, said the medical outreach is an intervention of the Kogi State Government by meeting the health needs of the people in Kogi LGA.

The CMD assured that he and his team will not rest until the indigent across Kogi LGA are provided with free and quality healthcare services.

He revealed services being offered during the medical outreach programme include, counselling, deforming, free medical consultation, general body check, free laboratory and free minor surgical procedure.

Also part of the services were RBS, RVS, HBP, Widal, Urinalysis, MP, TBD, TBS, BG, Genotype among others.

A statement issued explained that the ongoing Medical Outreach was aimed at providing accessible, free and quality healthcare to the doorsteps of the people of Kogi LGA.

A philanthropist and serving Commissioner for Ministry of Solid Minerals and natural resources in Kogi State, Hon (Engr) Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, thanked Kogi State government for providing his local government with functional and world class health facility.

According to him, the area has been provided with a fundamental and functional healthcare system by the state government and hence to give the citizens the best.

He lamented that due to economic downturn in the country people resort to patronize local medicines and chemists for their health needs.

Engr. Gegu assured that medical outreach brings wellness and special intervention to all.

The Commissioner who is the co-sponsored also explained that the free medical outreach exercise is his way of giving back to the society, and the health of the people are his priority, and their needs are to be met, and that is not to impress anybody but to the glory of God and touching lives.

He also added that the medical outreach is to bridge the medical gap traceable to moribund healthcare facilities, and expressed dismay over some political office holders’ attitude towards the health and wellness of their people, and promised that he will not relent in place the people’s healthcare needs on his list of priorities.

In a telephone interview with our Global Times Nigeria correspondent, Commissioner Gegu disclosed that the outreach will be a perennial exercise in order to sustain the programme including monitoring and evaluating the impact of it on the beneficiaries.

Global Times Nigeria gathered that the medical outreach will last for one week starting from 10th to 17th May, 2024, which the process was conducted by medical experts of different departments, and they gave the best of medical attention to every citizens of the Kogi LG, which included medical consultation, dental and minor surgical procedure, eye consultation, nursing station and pharmacy, and others.

The medical outreach is expected to reach 10,000 indigent people across Kogi LG.
