Kogi: Rep Paul Gowon Haruna (IJN) calls for urgent action against Flooding, ravaging Gully erosion in Dekina LGA
Hon Paul Gowon Haruna, IJN, House of Representatives member, representing Bassa/ Dekina Federal Constituency, On Thursday, 11th July 2024 presented a critical motion addressing the perennial flooding and ravaging gully erosion currently affecting Anyigba Iyale Odu and Dekina Town respectively.
In his passionate appeal, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna highlighted the dire consequences these environmental challenges pose to the local communities, including the destruction of homes, farmlands, and critical infrastructure. He emphasized that the ongoing devastation threatens not only the livelihoods of the residents but also their safety and well-being.

Paul Gowon Haruna calling and seeking his fellow Honourable members to recognize the urgency of the situation and to support immediate and comprehensive measures to combat these environmental crises. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts between federal, state, and local governments, as well as the involvement of relevant agencies and stakeholders, to implement effective and sustainable solutions. And to also provide relief materials to the people in the affected areas.
Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN urged the House to act swiftly to mitigate the impact of flooding and gully erosion in the above-mentioned communities in Dekina LGA, ensuring the protection and resilience of the affected communities.
