Ododo inaugurate 10 new Judges in Kogi

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has sworn in 10 newly appointed judicial officers, with a charge to them to always uphold the basic tenets of the rule of law and protect the dignity of the Judiciary in the state.

Inaugurating the newly appointed Judges on Wednesday at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, the governor tasked them to dispense justice without fear or favour.

Ododo expressed optimism that the new officials are well learned on the fact Judiciary is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure justice, equity, and fearlessness.

“There must be justice for all because the Judiciary is the last hope of the common man, adding that in the administration of justice, we must not only be just and fair but must be seen to be done.”

“As the last hope of the common man, the judiciary owes the society the obligation to be free fair, and just at all times, adding that judiciary is a recipe for anarchy,” the governor stated.” Ododo further charged.

The governor pledged that the principle of separation of power will be the fulcrum of his administration, assuring that as the Governor, he will not interfere with the decision of the judiciary.

He promised to provide adequate logistics to the sector to ensure comfort and speedy dispensation of justice as well as keep the arms of the government float.

Earlier, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi expressed gratitude to the Governor for being Judiciary friendly.

The Chief Judge explained that the process being completed by the present administration was initiated by the immediate past Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who commenced the nomination of the judges
