Edo 2024: Embarrassment and Shame Listening to Okpebholo
By Rita Ebiuwa
Am I the only one who feels ashamed and embarrassed every time Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate for Edo State September 21 election, speaks? Whenever I try to listen to his speeches, such as during the his party inauguration, I find it impossible to continue.
How can a party present such a poorly qualified candidate like Akpakomiza and expect the people of Edo State to support him with their votes? This decision seems like a disservice to our collective educational background.
Presenting Okpebholo as a candidate undermines the values and standards that we, as a community, hold dear. His lack of coherence, educational shortcomings, and overall incompetence are glaringly obvious and deeply concerning. It is hard to fathom how the APC believes that such a candidate could effectively represent and lead us.
The day l gave up on Monday Okpebholo was when he couldn’t differentiate between a Zoo and a Museum, this is a glaring example of his incompetence. This lack of basic understanding reflects poorly on his suitability as a candidate and should be a significant concern for voters. Edo State deserves a leader who is knowledgeable, coherent, and capable of making informed decisions, qualities that Okpebholo has repeatedly failed to demonstrate.
The contrast between Okpebholo and other more qualified candidates is stark. For instance, Asue Ighodalo, with his impressive educational background and professional competence, stands in sharp contrast to Okpebholo. This disparity only serves to highlight the inadequacy of the APC’s choice.
Choosing a candidate should be about selecting someone who embodies the values, skills, and vision necessary to lead and improve our state. Unfortunately, Okpebholo’s candidacy does not reflect this ideal. Instead, it feels like an affront to our intelligence and aspirations for a better future.
Oshiomole Unsettle as ChannelsTV Anchor Ask him to Bring Okpebholo for Interview
it is disheartening to see the APC present a candidate like Okpebholo, expecting us to overlook his deficiencies and support him. Our votes should go towards someone who truly represents our collective aspirations and can lead Edo State towards progress and prosperity.
