Yesterday, members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, converged in Ubiaja Township Stadium, Ubiaja, Esan East Local Government Area for the flag-off the 2024 governorship campaign in the state.
The crowd, which was unprecedented further weakened the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state that is being confronted adversely on different fronts.
First, the APC has inflicted the Nigerian populace with a never-seen-before economic harship and suffering. Kidnapping and general insecurity has been on the rise.
The second problem the APC is faced with is fielding an incompetent candidate who cannot face any interview in any of these national television stations. It is generally agreed that people of Edo State will not vote such an individual to man their commonwealth.
Again, the APC is burdened with several godfathers. The economic godfathers who want to put their hands in our state coffers as well as dictatorship godfathers who would want to control Senator Okpebholo in power owing to his obvious deficiencies. The voters across boards have vowed not to vote in such a candidate who will be controlled remotely.
So when the APC members saw the unprecedented crowd yesterday, they knew the game is up.
