APC Chieftain Cites M.O.R.E Agenda, Healthcare Investments, Flyovers and Road Projects as Reasons for Continuity
By Yahaya Idris, Asaba
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun John Oguma, has called on Deltans across political, ethnic and party lines to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that the governor deserves a second term based on what he described as achievements recorded under the administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
Oguma made the call on Sunday while speaking with journalists, insisting that the governor’s development agenda had made a visible impact across different parts of the state, from Asaba to the riverine communities.
According to the APC leader, the administration’s infrastructure and healthcare initiatives have strengthened the argument for continuity, urging residents to assess the government based on its projects and policies.
“Oborevwori is a man of his word. He promised MORE, and he is giving us MORE. From Warri to Asaba, Ughelli to Agbor, you can see work going on. This is a governor who understands the pains of the people,” Oguma said.
Oguma Highlights Healthcare Development in Delta
Citing what he described as significant improvements in the state’s healthcare sector, Oguma said the Oborevwori administration had expanded access to diagnostic and medical services across the three senatorial districts.
He listed the availability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines in Asaba, Warri and Oghara, alongside computed tomography (CT) scanners, radiology laboratories and dialysis machines, among the developments he attributed to the administration.

Oguma also said more than 150 primary healthcare centres had been renovated, adding that Delta State recently received a $400,000 grant from the Gates Foundation.
He further claimed that more than three million residents were covered by health insurance, describing the figure as the highest in the country.
The APC chieftain maintained that the reported investments in healthcare infrastructure and insurance coverage demonstrated the administration’s commitment to improving access to medical services.
Flyovers, Bridges and Roads Dominate Infrastructure Claims
On infrastructure, Oguma pointed to flyover projects in Effurun and Warri, the Orere Bridge project, the Ughelli-Asaba road dualisation and other completed and ongoing road projects across Delta State’s 25 local government areas.
He said the projects were contributing to changes in the state’s urban landscape, particularly in Warri, where he noted that ongoing infrastructure development was giving parts of the city a new appearance.
According to him, the spread of road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state was evidence of the administration’s stated commitment to development beyond major urban centres.
Oguma’s comments come amid continuing political discussions over the performance of the Oborevwori administration and the prospects of the 2027 governorship election.
‘Oborevwori Is a Pan-Delta Governor’
Beyond infrastructure and healthcare, Oguma described Oborevwori as a leader who accommodates different ethnic groups and political interests in the state.
He characterised the governor as humble, accessible and God-fearing, arguing that his leadership approach had helped reinforce the case for continuity.
The APC chieftain appealed to the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Ijaw, Isoko and Anioma communities to support the governor, stressing that the 2027 election should be approached with a focus on the administration’s record and unfinished projects.
“In 2027, we will not experiment. We will not go backward. We need continuity. We need Sheriff Oborevwori to finish what he started. I am calling on all Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Isokos and Aniomas to support him 100 per cent,” he said.
Oguma Urges Voter Mobilisation Ahead of 2027
As preparations and political alignments for the 2027 general elections continue, Oguma urged eligible voters to ensure that their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were ready and called for grassroots mobilisation across communities and polling units.
He said supporters should intensify engagement at the ward, community and polling-unit levels to advance the governor’s re-election campaign.
“Delta is working, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is working. Let us work for him,” Oguma added.
His remarks underscore the growing political conversations surrounding the 2027 governorship election, with supporters of the incumbent administration pointing to infrastructure and healthcare delivery as key issues in the debate over continuity.
