Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates and stakeholders to work towards the party’s total victory in the October 19 local government council election.
In a statement issued on September 19, 2024, by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Kogi State, revealed that Governor Ododo made this declaration at the APC’s local government council election campaign kickoff in Lokoja’s Muhammadu Buhari Square on Thursday.
The Governor, in the company of party leaders from the state’s three senatorial districts, seized the opportunity to outline the APC-led administration’s milestones, notably the implementation of the 40% affirmative action for women in elective positions, allocating vice chairmanship and councillorship positions for women in all 21 local government areas, and emphasizing the effective devolution of governance to the grassroots through strategic appointments of Special Assistants.
He appealed to the state’s residents to foster a peaceful environment and rally behind the APC-led administration, guaranteeing the party’s continued commitment to allocating the state’s resources effectively to alleviate poverty and build upon the government’s accomplishments across all economic sectors.
According to Governor Ododo, ‘Our state is endowed with extensive mineral resources and human capital, essential for eradicating poverty. We must reinforce the solid foundation established by the previous administration and my predecessor across key sectors, while pledging support to the APC.’
On October 19, 2024, I strongly encourage you to participate in the electoral process by casting your votes en masse for the APC chairmanship candidates in all 21 local government areas and our councillorship candidates in the 239 electoral wards, ensuring the continuation of our accomplishments under the APC administration.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its economic recovery initiatives, ensuring Kogi state’s continued support for policies and programs designed to mitigate the suffering of Nigerians.
In his address, APC state chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Bello lauded Governor Ododo’s exemplary leadership, which has made the party’s campaign for the local government elections considerably easier.
He advised party members to undertake door-to-door canvassing to secure a comprehensive victory for the party in the forthcoming October 19 local government council elections in the state.
The ceremony drew a substantial attendance of APC members from all 21 local government areas in the state and witnessed the defection of Honourable Salman Idris, Representative of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, from the African Democratic Conference (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress.
The highlight of the event was Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s presentation of APC flags to chairmanship candidates representing the state’s 21 local government areas.
