Embracing APC not motivated by individual political interests – Oghenesivbe

…Says the Gov Oborevwori’s Multiple Awards confirmed performance, good governance in Delta State.

The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has explained that if the massive defection recently witnessed in Delta State had been motivated by individual political interests, it would not have been comprehensive.

During an interview with Ritz FM Warri, TVC News and News Central via DSTV and GOTV channels on Saturday and Sunday respectively, Oghenesivbe stated that the 25 local government chairmen, all councilors across the state, the entire PDP structures at unit, Ward and local government levels across the three senatorial districts; Delta Central, Delta North and Delta Central after hitter debates and due process unanimously approved the defection devoid of coercion.

The Bureau Chief posited that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was at different national platforms declared and celebrated as the “Best Governor of the Year” by ThisDay Arise Media Group, “Best Governor in Infrastructure Development” by the New Telegraph Newspapers and “Best Governor in Good Governance” by Vanguard Newspapers Management and Editorial Board, which clearly revealed that the governor is in good standing and advancing Delta in all sectors of the state economy through the strategic implementation of his MORE agenda.

He pointed out that the defection was holistic, involving all levels of the party structure, stressing that the decision was a collective one, made by the party as a family, and that if the move had only served the interests of a few individuals, such a large and well coordinated defection would not have occurred.

He said, “If it were to be in the interest of the political class, then the defection wouldn’t be holistic. You wouldn’t have seen a defection that is from top to bottom.

“As it is today, the 25 local government chairmen, all the councillors across the state and all political appointees were carried along by leaders and stakeholders through the party structure from unit to ward levels, and from local government to state levels. The defection was embraced by the majority of party members in the state.

“As a family, we all agreed that this is the way forward. And if it were to be in the interest of certain persons in the party, this kind of massive defection likened to a political tsunami wouldn’t have taken place.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been declared the Best governor of the Year by ThisDay Arise Media Group, Best Governor in Infrastructure Development by the New Telegraph Newspapers and Best Governor in Good Governance by Vanguard Newspapers Management and Editorial Board. You can see that the governor is in good standing in Delta State,” Oghenesivbe said.
