Ododo vows to fish out killers of retired Major Ajayi

IDRIS AHMED, LOKOJA.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has on Wednesday, vowed to fish out those criminal elements terrorising the people of Kabba-Bunu local government area and some parts of Kogi West Senatorial District.

The governor made the declaration during a condolence visit to Odo-Ape community in Kabba/Bunu local government area. where he met with family members and local residents mourning the loss of retired army officer, Major Joe Ajayi.

Governor Ododo who described the late Major Ajayi as a true patriot who served the country with honour and dedication, condemned the killing as a painful tragedy that demands urgent action.

“We are here to sympathize with the family for the loss of our brother. I was personally touched when I heard about his death. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will remain with us. It would be a disservice to his memory if we fold our arms and allow criminals to take over our land,” he said.

While assuring the people of Odo-Ape community and by extension Kogi West that his administration is committed to tracking down those responsible and restoring safety to the area.

Governor Ododo cautioned against the unchecked entry of individuals posing as investors, warning that such movements may be cover for criminal operations.

He called on traditional rulers to be vigilant in land allocation, emphasizing the need for due diligence in profiling and verification of identity and intentions of land seekers.

“Any individual or group found aiding or abetting crime in any community will face the full wrath of the law,” he stated after inspecting a local security post.

Governor Ododo also stressed that the state will no longer tolerate actions that compromise community safety and security, directing that traditional authorities must play a more cautious role in safeguarding communal assets.
