ADC constitution disqualifies Suswam from 2027 Senate race!
The constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ruled out the possibility of former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam contesting the 2027 senatorial election on the party’s platform due to his failure to resign his membership of PDP.
Although Suswam has shown interest in running for senate again and has publicly associated himself with the ADC, he is yet to formally resign from PDP.
This goes against the ADC’s constitutional rule, which allows only card-carrying members who have no ties with any other political party to contest for public office.
On the other hand, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi have since resigned from PDP and stand better chances of contesting on the ADC platform than Suswam who seems to be confused about his political future.

The ADC’s third schedule, which outlines how primary elections should be conducted, and Article 8 on membership, both emphasize that no aspirant must belong to another party or maintain any form of affiliation with another party.
Anyone previously in a different party must have fully resigned before aspiring on the ADC platform.
This constitutional clause creates a clear obstacle for Suswam who has not announced any official departure from the PDP.
