The Nasarawa State Government has called on new corps members posted to the state to adhere to the ideals of the scheme and contribute to the state’s development.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made the call while declaring open the 2025 Batch B Stream One orientation course, held at the Magaji Danyamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi on Friday.

Declaring the 2025 Batch B Stream One orientation course open, Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Kwanta Yakubu, acknowledged the contributions of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) through community development services and engagement.

Governor Sule noted that the impactful projects undertaken by corps members over the years have led to remarkable development, innovation, and transformation in various communities across the state.

He promised that any corps member who initiates a project or program that positively impacts their host community will be duly recognized and rewarded.

“Let me use this opportunity to reaffirm our administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting corps members who distinguish themselves during their service,” he said.

The Nasarawa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Salamatu Muhammad, appealed to the state government for the provision of a new ambulance for camp and post-camp medical support, stating that it would reduce the challenges faced by corps members.

She reported that a total of 2,040 corps members had completed their registration and urged them to follow camp rules, build friendships, develop skills, and be responsible citizens.

“Dear prospective corps members, this orientation course marks the beginning of your national service,” she said. “It prepares you to serve with discipline, purpose, and unity. You will receive physical training, leadership development, and entrepreneurship training.”

Administering the oath of allegiance to the corps members, the Nasarawa State Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Aliyu Bashir, represented by Justice Abdullahi Shams Shama, charged them to shun bribery, corruption, and nepotism, and focus on the objectives of their primary assignment.

Some corps members interviewed expressed their readiness to utilize the knowledge gained from their various fields of study to positively impact the communities in Nasarawa State.
