Oghenesivbe credits Gov Oborevwori’s achievements to Urhobo slot in governance
…Says ethnic card must be weighed in equity, good conscience
Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, will continue to govern the state equitably, and devoid of loud ethnic chauvinism that is inimical to peaceful coexistence, peace and security.
The Director General of Delta State Bureau for Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, gave the assurance in swift reaction to a trending allegation on social media by one Israel Akpodoro, alleging that the governor is wasting Urhobo slot under power rotation in the state.
He said the governor being a proud and illustrious son of Urhobo nation, is not unaware of his ethnic origin, but not favourably disposed to actions and inactions that are either repugnant to natural justice and equity, or reflects negative traits of ethnic chauvinism capable of undermining the overall development of the state.
The Bureau Chief further states that under governor Oborevwori, Delta State stands out as the fourth largest economy in Nigeria, making strategic investments in agriculture, urban and rural electrification, clean energy, developing sports infrastructure and executing mega road projects, which includes gigantic flyovers in Delta South, Delta North and in Urhobo nation of Delta Central, awarded to construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.
Dr Oghenesivbe noted that over 850,000 Deltans have benefited from the D-CARES, and other social investments programmes under Oborevwori administration, as well as vocational training and starter parks for youths through the Ministry of Women Affairs, and the State Bureau for job and wealth creation, wherein billions of Naira have been spent to lift our people from poverty into wealth creation.
He pointed out that a reasonable number of the social investments beneficiaries are domiciled in Urhobo nation of Delta Central, and in Delta North and South senatorial districts, emphasizing the need for constructive criticism which enables government to update and upscale development strategies, but frowns at baseless allegations and unfounded accusations deliberately sponsored to paint a bad picture where non existed.
Dr Oghenesivbe assured Israel Akpodoro, Urhobo nation and all Deltans that governor Oborevwori will not ignore any ethnic nationality or deliberately disrespect anybody, and will never trash any quality advice that would advance the state and people.
He said all the legacy projects and overall achievements of governor Oborevwori from 2023 to 2031, will be credited to Urhobo slot in governance, and shall be a source of pride and joy to Urhobo Nation, and to all Deltans.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is not willing to play ethnic chauvinism card in Delta State. He made it clear from the outset that he’s governor for all Deltans.
“In the light of the above, it is difficult to appreciate the unfounded allegations of Israel Akpodoro, who alleged that the governor is wasting Urhobo slot in governance, thereby encouraging Oborevwori to explore the tribal bigotry option.
“As clearly outlined above, governor Oborevwori’s leadership style is unique and personalized, not compared to another. He’s in a class all by himself, making waves in all sectors of the state economy, and majority of Deltans are happy and proud of their governor.
“It’s important to State that the governor is not unaware of his ethnic origin, but not favourably disposed to ethnic card in governance that is inimical to peaceful coexistence, equity, justice and good conscience.
“Progressive 21st century leaders govern with the fear of God, focused on equity and what will benefit majority of the people, and governor Oborevwori is one of such leaders.
“The game of politics and strategic leadership is multidimensional with multifaceted approaches, and in phases. Governor Oborevwori is an experienced politician with excessive local content, he knows the game. The UKODO (quality dividends of democracy) will surely go round,” Oghenesivbe assured.
