Comrade Kabi re-elected FCT NULGE president

Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabi has been re -elected as the President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the FCT for another four year tenure during its 8th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja.
Among other re- elected NULGE executives were, Comrade David Jezhi Iyah as state Deputy president, Comrade Hannatu Abdullahi, Chairperson women committee, Bala Mohammed Tukura, state Treasurer, Gideon Musa, state Trustee, Esuwa Asher Auditor and seven others.
In his speech at the end of the election, the re-elected NULGE FCT NULGE president, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabi, appreciated the delegates for him and other executives worthy to be re -elected to pilot the affairs of the union for another fresh four years.
He said the unions paramount interest would continue to be that of the members, saying the union will continue to remain focused despite some unnecessary distractions.
“And to the teaming staff of the FCT unified service, we are grateful for putting us on our heels to do better, we have never and will never take you or your individual collective advices for granted, we filter them and make use of the best option and approach in the collective interest of all of us as public servants,”he said.
The re -elected NULGE appreciated the FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezewon Wike, for his prompt response in implementing the new national minimum wage and payment of arrears, and other area council staff entitlements.
He also appealed to the Minister to expedite action on the approval of the 2024 promotion of the Unified Staff of the Area Council and the implementation of the 40% Peculiar Allowance to both Area Council and LEA, 25% and 35% CONHESS and CONMESS salary adjustments for health workers and Payment of the 35,000-naira wage award to staff of the Area Councils/LEA.

Comrade Kabi, however, noted how his first four year tenure as NULGE president in FCT ensured payment of 2019 old minimum wage arrears of 25 months to all staff across the Six Area Councils and the LEA’s.
He added that his administration had also championed the longest ever four strike months in the history of FCT Area Council/LEA, which he said has ensured that full implementation of 2023 new minimum wage of N70,000.
“We have also been able to ensured early conduct of annual staff promotion exercise through the FCT Area Council Service Commission. While we also
facilitated the training and retraining of Area Council Staff outside of FCT through the Area council service commission and among others,”he added.
