High Court of Justice Kabba stops celebration of Adegbederin Day

The High Court of Justice in Kabba, Kogi State, has issued an order halting the celebration of Mopa Adegbederin Day pending the determination of the ongoing lawsuit.

This Order followed the leadership crisis involving Mopa welfare society as to who can celebrate the annual Mopa Day.

Mopa Day is annually celebrated on the 13th and 14th September of every year.

Global time Nigeria reports that for the last two years, the Chief Muyiwa Ibeun and the Mopa traditional council stopped the annual celebration Mopa Day,which has been celebrated for over 84 years now.Chief Muyiwa and the Mopa Traditional Council now introduced Mopa Adegbederin Day.

The Mopa Traditional Council, led by Chief Muyiwa Ibeun, had planned the 2025 Adegbederin Day celebration for December 28th , the Court by an order made on the 18th day of December 2025, restrained the following persons

1. Chief Muyiwa Ibeun

2. Mopa Traditional Council

3. Mr. Olukotun Albert Oluseyi

4. Elder Stephen Femi Ajimba from celebrating this year’s Mopa Adegbederin Day pending the final determination of the suit filed for the determination of the rightful executives of Mopa Welfare Society.
