The Chairmanship candidate for the February 21, 2026 election in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, Hon Mohammed Kasim Ikwa has aympathized with victims of fire incident at motor spare parts in Zuba in the area council.

 

Our correspondent learnt that a section of the motor spare parts market on Saturday, night gutted by fire which its cause was yet to be ascertained, thereby destroying goods including cars worth over N400 million.

 

Hon Ikwa, who was led by the Gwagwalada chapter chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Umar Yunusa, alongside his campaign team and party chieftains as well as supporters, expressed shock and sadness over the fire incident.

 

He informed the victims that as a resident of Zuba and chairmanship candidate alongside leaders as well as members of the party decided to come and sympathise with them of inferno.

 

“And we have nothing to say than to give glory to God and appeal to you to submit to God to see what happened as the will of God, even though nobody wish a bad thing to happen but when it happens, we only glory to God for the fact that with life we have every hope that what is lost you will get it back,” he said.

 

He further told the victims that they should not lose hope, assuring them that in the next two months, area councils elections with be conducted and promised to intervene on its own little way.

 

The chairmanship candidate, therefore, urged the management and executives of the market to present photographs of the properties affected by fire in order to see how he can reach to whoever to render assistance to them.

 

Earlier, the Gwagwalada chapter chairman of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) Alhaji Umar Yunusa, told the market management that he led the delegation of the leaders also alongside the party’s chairmanship candidate to come and sympathise with them and share their pains over the fire incident.

 

He said the fire incident did not affect the victims alone but also affected the party leaders, which he said the victims are also part of them.

 

“Because the PDP chairmanship candidate Hon Mohammed Kasim Ikwa is your son and this is home as he has no any other home than here. Therefore, we share pains with you over the.tragic fire incident and we pray God almighty will replace what you people have lost to the inferno,” he said.

 

Responding, the chairman of the motor spare parts, Mr Chike Okeke, appreciated the delegation led by the PDP chairman for finding time out of their tight schedule to come and sympathised with the victims over the fire incident.

 

He said though, he gives glory to God that no life was lost in the inferno, while assuring them of their members support and also wished them success ahead of the February 21, 2026 chairmanship election in the area.

 

Our correspondent also report that the chairman of the spare parts market alongside the executives later conducted the PDP chairmanship candidate Hon Mohammed Kasim Ikwa alongside his entourage round affected properties affected inside the market.
