Damilola, whose death occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, just as many ushered in the New Year with celebrations, breathed her last after doctors withdrew life support at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

She first sought help at Walsall Manor Hospital, where she received treatment and was discharged. Undeterred by recurring symptoms, she returned just three days later, only to be sent home again after initial checks revealed no clear cause.
Two weeks on, with the headaches unrelenting, Damilola was admitted for advanced tests, including an MRI scan and lumbar puncture. The results were shocking: fluid had built up on her brain, necessitating urgent surgery.

Rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, she underwent a procedure that initially appeared successful, sparking hopes of recovery among her family and well-wishers.
