Chief Edward David Onoja, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State and Governing board member South East Development Commission(SEDC), has commended the growing spirit of unity and maturity among Kogites, especially youths in the Igala and Bassa communities of Kogi East.

In a statement dated January 19, 2026, and signed by the former Kogi State Deputy Governor, the politician saluted the youth for embracing peace, discipline, good character, and focus as the bedrock of a progressive society.

“My Dear Kogites, I commend the growing spirit of unity, understanding, and maturity across our state, particularly among our youths,” Onoja stated.

“History reminds us that division weakens societies, while unity strengthens them. The true strength of any people lies not in noise or hostility, but in love, patience, tolerance, courage, and a shared sense of purpose.”

Onoja who previously served as Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, specifically addressed Kogi East youths: “To the youths of Kogi State, especially my brothers and sisters in the Igala and Bassa communities, I salute your growing sense of awareness and responsibility.

While the past may have been marked by misunderstandings and moments of division, growth has come through reflection and progress through correction.
“Onoja, who described his political journey as transcending tribe, religion, and social class, reiterated his commitment to a united Kogi where every citizen is treated equally. “Our strength lies in building bridges across political parties, tribes, camps, and factions, not in deepening fault lines,” he added.

The APC leader urged party members and supporters to remain politically active, safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), encourage voter registration, and shun the “destructive habit of pulling others down.”

He assured Kogites that leaders and stakeholders, particularly in Kogi East, are actively reconciling differences and fostering peace. ” This is a season for unity, not discord. When all is said and done, Kogi belongs to us all. Our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our future.”
