Nasarawa ADC on Brink: Doma Chieftain MMM Bose Decries ‘Anti-Party’ Suspension as Gross Injustice

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Muhammad Muhammad Muhammad Bose, has described the 14-day suspension of the state party chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, over alleged anti-party activities as a grave injustice that could undermine the party’s unity ahead of its congress.

Bose, who spoke exclusively to our correspondent via Phone interview on Wednesday, lamented that the decision by party leaders was ill-timed and baseless, questioning its motive just days before the ADC’s crucial congress.

“Our leaders have made a wrong decision. How many days remain for our party congress to allow him and replace him with another person during the congress? Why suspend him in the name of anti-party when he has not engaged in anti-party activities?” Bose queried, insisting that Williams had shown no such conduct.

He recounted the political dynamics of the last general election to bolster his argument, noting that party members, including himself, had supported different candidates under the ADC banner without breaching loyalty.

“If it was in the last election, all of us were in different political parties. For instance, I voted for Buhari Usman under ADC, a state assembly candidate, while Atala Yusuf was for the House of Representatives in ADC. Maybe you people who suspended the Chairman did not support and vote for ADC in the last election,” Bose fired back, accusing the suspension architects of hypocrisy.

Labeling the action as “totally injustice,” Bose vowed to resist it staunchly, drawing parallels to past political missteps in Nasarawa State.
“Suspending him is injustice, and injustice is not lasting and will not take us anywhere. I am an ADC member, but I do not support this because it is totally injustice.

My promise is to stand against injustice wherever I find it,” he declared, emphasizing his commitment to fairness within the party ranks.

Bose, a fomer Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura ally and one of founding members of Defunct Congress for Progressives Congress (CPC, further likened the suspension to the divisive tactics employed by a former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Francis Orogu, whose frequent suspensions of members had weakened that platform.

“The style Orogu used when he was the state PDP chairman affected the party, suspending this one and that one,” he recalled, warning that history could repeat itself in the ADC if such overreach persists.

He clarified his personal detachment from the state chairman, underscoring the impartiality of his outrage: “I do not know the state Chairman; I have never met him or even had a phone call with him. Honestly, I feel very painful about this act.”

The suspension of Williams, announced earlier this week by a faction of the ADC State Executive Committee, stems from allegations that he covertly supported opposition candidates during the 2023 elections and recent off-cycle polls in Nasarawa.

Party insiders revealed that the 14-day measure, effective immediately, bars Williams from all party activities and paves the way for an interim leadership selection at the upcoming congress.

However, Bose’s vocal dissent has ignited debates within the party’s grassroots, with supporters rallying online under hashtags like #JusticeForAlaku.

As the ADC grapples with internal strife, Bose’s intervention highlights tensions in Nasarawa’s political landscape, where defections and suspensions have become tools for power consolidation.

Political analysts say such moves risk alienating loyalists like Bose, potentially fragmenting the party’s base ahead of the 2027 elections.

Efforts to reach the ADC state publicity secretary for a response were unsuccessful as of press time, but the controversy shows no signs of abating.
