Ward Congress: Kokona LG APC Stakeholders Unite for Common Goal, Adopt Consensus, Hold Peaceful Exercise
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Wednesday united for a common goal, adopting the consensus method for a hitch-free ward congress as agreed by the party’s leadership, with the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Dr. Danladi Jatau, interfacing with Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, Dr. John Mamman, the Council Chairman, and other critical stakeholders to advocate a party-first ideology that prioritizes unity and victory beyond 2027.
The stakeholders, who converged peacefully at the LG Guest House in Garaku, reached a common ground on conducting the exercise transparently and without rancour, emphasizing the supremacy of the party’s interests over personal ambitions to ensure sustained peace in the area, which has long been regarded as one of the most stable during political activities in the state.
In his keynote address at the commencement of the congress, Dr. Jatau re-emphasized the imperative for all stakeholders to guarantee that the ward congresses in their respective wards are executed peacefully, successfully, and in strict adherence to the APC constitution and guidelines, expressing optimism that the process would reinforce the party’s dominance in Kokona LGA and beyond.
Dr. Jatau, who declared the meeting specifically convened to strategize for the success of the ward congress fixed by the national leadership of the APC, urged everyone present to place the party’s victory above individual aspirations, stating:
“Today is a day that the National leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed for the conduct of our ward Congress. The critical stakeholders of Kokona LGA have met to discuss on how to ensure peaceful and successful ward Congress. We have agreed and abide by the decision of our party and stakeholders on Consensus. From here, we are going to our respective wards to conduct the ward Congress based on the party constitution and guidelines.”
He further stressed the need for transparency and orderliness in the process, assuring that Kokona would continue to exemplify peaceful political engagement, while calling on all to work assiduously for the party’s development, unity, and triumph in upcoming elections.
Also speaking at the well-attended forum, Dr. John Mamman, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education and Leader of the Congress for the LG, described the deliberations as fruitful and successful, announcing the adoption of consensus for electing ward executive members in the interest of unity, peace, progress, and development.
He named Dr. Danladi Jatau as the leader for Bassa District, Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi in charge of Garaku, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, himself (Dr. John Mamman), and other stakeholders to oversee proceedings in their respective wards, adding: “We are going to elect our ward executive members by consensus in the interest of unity, peace, progress and development of the party.”
Dr. Mamman equally appealed to party members and stakeholders to remain orderly and prioritize the right actions for the collective good of the APC.
