Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, on Wednesday hosted chairmen of the 13 local government areas in Nasarawa State and other political stakeholders to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at his residence in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Keffi.

The gathering brought together several political leaders and stakeholders across the state, including the Deputy State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jatau Kunda, as well as the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in the state.

Speaking during the event, Kunda commended Senator Wadada for the initiative, describing the Iftar gathering as a commendable step toward fostering unity and strengthening relationships among local government chairmen and other stakeholders in the state.

He noted that bringing together leaders from across the local government areas during the holy month of Ramadan reflects the spirit of unity, cooperation and collective responsibility in governance.

Among the local government chairmen present were Baba Yahaya of Toto Local Government Area, Madaki of Karu Local Government Area, Idris Damagani of Keffi Local Government Area, and Mek Bitrus Agbawu of Kokona Local Government Area, among others.

In his remarks, Senator Wadada emphasized the importance of inclusiveness and fairness in leadership, urging political leaders to always accommodate the interests of others.

“Within accommodating each other’s interests, we must be real, just and fair,” he said.

The senator described Nasarawa State as an endowed state with enormous potential for development if leaders remain committed to unity and responsible governance.

He also commended the leadership style of the state governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, whom he described as a servant leader.

“A leader is a servant. I think we have a servant in Nasarawa State.

Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule is a servant because he is humble, patient and accommodating. These are all attributes of a leader that serves. If you are not humble as a leader, you will not give the people what they deserve,” Wadada said.

He further urged the local government chairmen to play their roles effectively in strengthening democracy at the grassroots level.

“We have brought democracy to you, the local government chairmen. You have a very great role to play, and in playing those roles, exclude sentiments,” he advised.

The Iftar gathering provided an opportunity for political leaders and stakeholders across the state to interact, reflect and strengthen unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
