Yoruba Community Honours Isa Kogi with Oba-Teru Title in Nasarawa.

A respected traditional leader and community figure, Alhaji Isa Kogi, has been conferred with the title of Oba-Teru by the Yoruba community in Nyanya Gwandara, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The honour was bestowed during a well-attended ceremony on Sunday, drawing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and members of various communities.

Presenting the title, Chairman of the Yoruba Community in Nyanya Gwandara, Alhaji Ibrahim Agesinkara, said the recognition was a reflection of Isa Kogi’s consistent efforts in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among people of different backgrounds.

He described Oba-Teru as a revered title in Yoruba culture, symbolizing a leader who listens, understands, and serves his people without bias, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences.

According to him, the title is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional character and leadership, noting that Isa Kogi’s contributions made him a worthy recipient.

In his remarks, the traditional ruler of the Yoruba community, Oba Samson Adebayo Okutepa I, praised Isa Kogi’s humanitarian gestures and inclusive leadership style. He noted that his influence has strengthened harmony among the Yoruba people and other ethnic groups within the community.

Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Aso, Alhaji Uzairu Sama’ila, commended the Yoruba community for recognising merit, stating that Isa Kogi’s dedication to service and accessibility to his people made the honour well deserved.

Other speakers at the occasion echoed similar sentiments, urging the honouree to sustain his commitment to community development and unity.

Responding, Alhaji Isa Kogi expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as both humbling and motivating. He assured the community of his continued dedication to service and pledged to uphold the values associated with the title.

He further called on residents of the area to remain united and continue to promote peaceful coexistence.

The ceremony featured the formal presentation of the title, citation reading, and other cultural displays.
